Unit 1

In Unit 1, the focus is on situating Mother and Baby homes in the context of the time and as one amongst a network of twentieth century institutions.

Unit 2

This unit introduces the Tuam Mother and Baby home as one example of this type of institution. It unpacks the history of the Tuam home and the people and groups connected with it.

Using oral history testimonies, Unit 3 supports students to explore the experiences of women and children in the Tuam home.

This unit focuses on the work of the historian, Catherine Corless, and on decisions relating to the children missing from/buried in the former site of the Tuam home.
